Electricity minister meets Managing Director of Siemens Energy

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker asserted the ministry’s utmost keenness on boosting ways of cooperation with different institutions and agencies in the coming period and scaling up the participation of the private sector in new and renewable energy projects.

Shaker’s remarks came during talks with Managing Director of Siemens Energy Layla el Hares Monday.

Shaker paid tribute to cooperation with Siemens Energy and the experiences the world company enjoys in electricity and energy.

The Egyptian official said the ministry is very interested in protecting the environment through raising efficiency of production units and expanding renewable energy projects.

Egypt aims to reach 42 percent of the contribution of renewable energy in the nation’s energy mix by 2035, according to him.

For her part, Hares commended greater experiences of the electricity and renewable energy sector in Egypt.

She underlined desire to increase the volume of cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to promote the contribution of renewable energies and offer all German experiences in digital transformation, modern control centers and smart grids.
