Electricity Minister and New Valley Governor Discuss Solar Energy Expansion Plans


CAIRO: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat has emphasized the ministry’s ongoing commitment to improving electricity services and supporting development plans, particularly in the New Valley governorate. The minister highlighted efforts to supply necessary electricity for strategic projects as part of the region’s sustainable development initiatives.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these efforts are aimed at ensuring the optimal use of resources to achieve maximum economic returns and stimulate investment in the New Valley. Esmat elaborated on the energy strategy and the transition plan toward renewable energy during a meeting with New Valley Governor Mohamed el Zamallout. The discussion focused on expanding solar energy projects to meet electricity demands for various purposes, especially in development and agricultural manufacturing.

The meeting also addressed ways to enhance the electricity grid, aiming to improve service quality and meet the needs of residents. A sta
tement from the Electricity Ministry on Thursday revealed that several projects are underway to strengthen the power grid and supply electricity to new reclamation areas in the governorate. Measures to reduce technical and commercial losses were also discussed.

Governor Zamallout praised the ministry’s continuous efforts to support the governorate’s development and expansion plans. He emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships with the private sector to capitalize on the region’s natural resources, particularly through the establishment of new solar energy plants.
