El-Sisi stresses dangers of escalation in Gaza, calls for supporting two-state solution

CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasised the dangers of escalating tensions in the region due to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to continue its efforts, in coordination with partners, to bring an end to the war that has caused a humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

This statement was made during President El-Sisi’s meeting today with a delegation from the US Congress, headed by Senator Joni Ernst, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.

El-Sisi warned against the dangers of Israeli escalation in the West Bank, noting that it further complicates the regional situation. He called on the international community, especially the United States, to implement the internationally agreed-upon two-state solution, which ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and enhances peace and security in the region, instead of continuing violence and destruction.
