Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saeed said on Monday that the “She Trades Egypt” project came as part of the state’s efforts to empower women at the political, economic and social levels.
The project was implemented with support and financing from the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) and the Islamic Development Bank through the Aid for Trade Program for Arab Countries (AfTIAS).
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the project, Saeed said that the venture that was launched in 2020 embodies an exceptional model for distinguished partnerships under the umbrella of the AfTIAS program.
Egypt values the distinguished development partnership with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), which resulted in a cooperation portfolio amounting to about $16 billion from 2008 to September 2022, the minister added.
She pointed out that Egypt is keen to continue and intensify cooperation with ITFC in the coming period.
Under the project, 35 women-owned small and medium-sized businesses were equipped with the required skills to design and market products, and comply with quality standards and packaging techniques, Saaed noted.
