Geneva: Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Alaa Hegazy, engaged in discussions with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Trk, focusing on the cooperation between Egypt and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting underscores Egypt’s dedication to enhancing its national human rights framework and meeting its international commitments. The dialogue reviewed national efforts to implement key human rights initiatives, particularly the national strategy for human rights.
The discussions also covered Egypt’s evaluation of its periodic national reports submitted to human rights treaty committees and the preparations for the upcoming session to discuss the national report under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism in January 2025.
