Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court retained its membership in the Executive Office of the Conference of African Constitutional Judicial Bodies.
In a statement, spokesman for Egypt’s top court Tarek Shebl said President of the Court Boulos Fahmy chaired on Sunday the first session of the sixth edition of the conference, currently taking place in Rabat with the participation of 42 African constitutional bodies.
The session tackled national constitutions and their relation with international agreements.
The decision to keep Egypt’s membership in place despite the end of its mandate comes in recognition of its pioneering role at the African level, he added.
