Cairo: Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly chaired a pivotal meeting to assess the financial and implementation status of several higher education projects managed by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. The focus of the meeting was on the development of private and technological universities, research centres, and infrastructure advancements in various universities.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting also covered a strategic vision for higher education in Egypt. The aim is to optimise resources and enhance the capabilities of educational institutions across the country. This includes the establishment of new universities and research centres, alongside significant upgrades to existing infrastructure.
Another major topic on the agenda was the National Cancer Institute project in Sheikh Zayed, known as Hospital 500500. Officials reviewed the progress of its first and second phases, discussing steps to ensure the project’s timely completion.
In addition to education and healthcare infrastructure, Abdelatty highlighted key files of mutual interest, particularly water security. He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to development in the Nile Basin, underscoring the principles of mutual benefit and non-harmful cooperation. Abdelatty announced the launch of a new investment mechanism for water and development projects in the Southern Nile Basin countries, which Egypt supports by mobilizing funding from international donors.
