Cairo: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the Eid Al-Fitr holiday for public sector employees in Egypt will begin on Saturday, March 29, and continue through Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The decision grants a paid official holiday to employees in ministries, government offices, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and state-owned enterprises.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister also stated that if the official moon sighting confirms that Monday, March 31 is the first day of Shawwal 1446 AH, the holiday period will be extended to include Wednesday, April 2, giving public employees an additional day to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr.
This announcement ensures that workers across Egypt will have sufficient time to observe the end of Ramadan and enjoy the festive season with their families. The final length of the holiday will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, which determines the start of Eid.
