The Egyptian Furniture Export Council said the sector’s exports during the first eight months of 2021 increased by 19 percent to dlrs 161.413 million compared to dlrs 136.154 million during the same period of 2020.
The monthly report issued by the Council on Sunday indicated that the sector’s exports declined in August 2021 by 5 percent to reach 13.959 million dollars against 14.684 million dollars in August 2020.
But the sector’s exports hit the record in April 2021 by recording 25.753 million dollars compared to 8.763 million dollars in April 2020.
The council said eight countries took 75.8 percent of Egypt’s furniture exports with Saudi Arabia being ranked the first in terms of countries importing Egyptian furniture during the first eight months of 2021 as they increased by 7.7 percent to reach about dlrs 42 million compared to dlrs 39 million during the same period of 2020.
Iraq came second with furniture imports amounting to 17 million dollars compared to 15 million dollars.
