The two sides also agreed on the importance of any proposal to resolve the Palestinian issue being based on the unity of the Palestinian territories
Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, received on Wednesday 21/8/2024 Lieutenant General Jibril Rajoub, Secretary of the Central Committee of Fatah, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman and director of the Public Diplomacy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, stated that the meeting witnessed the Foreign Minister reviewing Egypt’s contacts with various parties to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and reach a deal under which a ceasefire in Gaza would be reached and prisoners and detainees would be exchanged, stressing Egypt’s categorical rejection of any plans to displace Palestinian citizens from their lands, in addition to its keenness to fully implement humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip without obstacles.
The
Secretary of the Central Committee of Fatah praised Egypt’s important and pivotal role in supporting the Palestinian cause, and its efforts to deal with the crisis in the Gaza Strip and its security and humanitarian repercussions.
The two sides also agreed on the importance of any proposal to resolve the Palestinian issue being based on the unity of the Palestinian territories and relying on the relevant international legitimacy resolutions, in addition to what the current challenges dictate regarding the necessity of Palestinian unity and strengthening the role of the National Authority, in a way that ensures the achievement of the aspirations and hopes of the Palestinian people.
