Egypt’s FM discusses bilateral ties with Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce


Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty, received a delegation from the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, as part of strengthening economic and trade relations with Brazil, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Tamam Khallaf in a statement on Monday.

Abdel-Ati expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce’s choice of Cairo as the headquarters of its regional office, which was opened in September 2022, welcoming the role played by the office in facilitating trade between Egypt, Brazil and other Latin American countries and increasing Egyptian exports to Brazil.

The Egyptian Minister reviewed the bilateral relations between Egypt and Brazil, especially after the visit of Brazilian President Lula da Silva to Egypt in February 2024, during which it was agreed to upgrade the level of relations to a “strategic partnership.’ Abdelatty also highlighted the significance of his recent meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira on the sidelines of the BRI
CS summit in Russia.

The official spokesman added that the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the priority given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to supporting investment, trade and the national economy.’ He also discussed the efforts of the Egyptian government to attract foreign direct investment, stressing the aspiration to strengthen economic and trade relations between Egypt and Brazil, which is Egypt’s first trading partner in Latin America.

The minister also highlighted the importance of increasing the volume of trade exchange during the coming period to reflect the distinguished relations between the two countries and maximize the benefit from the free trade agreement between Egypt and Mercosur countries (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay).

Minister Abdelatty also noted the important role of the Chamber of Commerce and expanding areas of cooperation to include renewable energy, green hydrogen, pharmaceutical industries, agriculture, livestock, tourism, information technology, oil, natural
gas and fisheries.
