Egypt’s bourse gains EGP 54.3bn in one week

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has achieved strong weekly gains, estimated at nearly EGP 54 billion, backed by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE)’s latest measures to support the national economy.

The market capital gained about EGP 54.3 billion to hit EGP 750 billion, compared to EGP 695.7 billion in the past week.

The EGX 30 benchmark index leapfrogged 9.16 percent to reach 11,709.16 points.

The broader EGX 70 index of the leading smaller and mid-cap enterprises (SME) went up by 5.32 percent to register 1,995.45 points.

The all-embracing EGX 100 index also increased 6.1 percent to close at 3,022.23 points.

The transactions of Egyptian investors accounted to 78.1% of the total transactions on the listed shares, while the foreigners accounted to 11.6 percent, and the Arabs accounted to 10.3%.

Foreigners recorded net sales worth EGP 734.7 million, while Arabs recorded net purchases of EGP 163.5 million.
