Egypt’s amb. in Brussels reviews preparations for COP 27 with OACPS delegation

Egypt’s Ambassador to the European Union Badr Abdel Aati met with a delegation of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).

On its Facebook on Saturday 30/07/2022, the Foreign Ministry said that the meeting tackled the logistic and other preparations done in Egypt to preside over the UN climate conference, COP27, due in Sharm el Sheikh in November.

Abdel Aati reviewed the Egyptian vision on the issues of priority topped by those of adaptation, easing the repercussions of climate change, reducing emissions, handling the damage and obtaining the funds necessary for climate action.

He highlighted the Egyptian efforts to coordinate with all the countries to guarantee that the issues of climate change are on top of the priorities of all parties in the event.

Egypt boosted its contributions to climate action by cutting emissions and launching the national strategy of climate change 2050, he said.

Meanwhile, the ambassadors of the OACPS member states said that they depend on Egypt’s heading of COP27 to push forward the agenda of the African and developing countries during the event especially in relation to the issues of finance, adaptation and transferring technology.
