Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir unveiled on Sunday 13/11/2022 preparations for the Egyptian-Swedish business forum to enhance trade and investment relations between the two countries’ private sectors.
The forum will be held in Stockholm in the first quarter of 2023 with the participation of a big delegation of businessmen.
Samir made the remarks during a meeting with Swedish International Cooperation and Foreign Trade Minister Johan Forssell on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference, Cop27, currently in session in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh.
The forum is a big chance to expound available investment opportunities in the Egyptian market, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, he said.
Samir said the ministry is keen on luring more Swedish investments to the Egyptian market, urging investors to benefit from the free trade area agreements signed between Egypt and different economic blocs.
He said Egypt is keen on developing economic cooperation with Sweden at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
He underlined the importance of benefiting from the Swedish expertise in backing small and medium-sized enterprises.
He noted that trade between Egypt and Sweden is estimated at 928 million dollars, saying there are 222 Swedish projects in Egypt worth 145 million dollars.
The Swedish minister said his country is keen on boosting economic cooperation with Egypt.
He added that there are many promising investment opportunities between the Egyptian and Swedish business communities.
