Premarital tests for any soon-to-be-married couples cost the Egyptian state EGP 320, Spokesman for the Health and Population Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The total cost of the tests for any would-be couples is EGP 500, of which they pay EGP 180 and the state covers the remaining EGP 320, Abdel Ghaffar added in a phone call with DMC satellite channel on Monday27/2/2023.
The initiative to scan those who are getting married was launched under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, he said.
The initiative aims at testing them for genetic, infectious and transmissible diseases to prevent any risk of transmitting any disease to each other and their offspring, according to him.
