Egyptian Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, held an expanded meeting with Marton Nag – Minister of National Economy of Hungary, where they discussed fruitful cooperation between both countries in transport sector.
The meeting was held with the presence of Ambassador András Kovacs, the Hungarian Ambassador in Cairo, and the leaders of the Ministry of Transport and the National Railway Authority. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport in the government district of the Administrative Capital.
The Minister of Transport pointed to the fruitful cooperation between the two sides in various fields, including the transport sector, which witnessed cooperation between the Egyptian Railways Authority and the Hungarian Janz Mavage Company in a deal to manufacture and supply 1,350 new passenger railway carriages for the benefit of Egypt Railways.
A total of 914 carriages out of the deal have arrived so far, which contributed to raising the efficienc
y of daily operation and regularizing operating schedules, the Egyptian minister added.
For his part, the Minister of National Economy of Hungary stressed the importance of this meeting, as Hungary is keen on strengthening the Hungarian-Egyptian relations.
The discussions touched on the interest of the Hungarian side in cooperating with the Egyptian side in the field of electric cars and buses, where the Egyptian Minister of Transport explained the ministry’s interest in this type of modern, environmentally friendly means of transportation, pointing out the importance of holding intensive meetings between both Egyptian and Hungarian companies that manufacture electric buses to cooperate in this matter.
The important area within the framework of the Egyptian Ministry of Transport’s plan is to localize the transportation industry in Egypt, including the electric bus industry, in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.
