Egyptian-Hungarian committee for economic cooperation convenes in Budapest

The fourth round of the joint Egyptian-Hungarian Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation convened in Hungary’s capital, Budapest, for the first time in 4 years.

The committee’s meeting was chaired by Egyptian International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, according to a statement released by the International Cooperation Ministry on Friday 03/02/2023.

The meeting was also attended by Egypt’s ambassador in Budapest, the chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, the chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone and officials from the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, as well as representatives from the Hungarian government and the private sector.

During the talks, the two sides lauded the significant progress in Egyptian-Hungarian relations over the past years, especially in light of current rapprochement between the two countries’ leaders and the exchange of visits, which in turn contributed to enhancing trade exchange and increasing tourist numbers, as well as strengthening joint work to localize modern industrial technologies.

Moreover, the Egyptian-Hungarian Business Forum is held within the joint committee’s activities, with the aim of exploring ways to scale up investments and advance cooperation in the sectors of common interest.
