Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty expressed optimism on Wednesday, 27/11/2024, regarding the newly implemented ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, which took effect earlier in the day. He conveyed that this development could potentially bring stability and security to the Lebanese people and safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty shared his sentiments during phone conversations with Nabieh Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, and Najib Mikati, Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister. During these discussions, he reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening Lebanese national institutions, particularly the army, enforcing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, and advancing the presidential election process.
Berri and Mikati expressed gratitude towards Abdelatty, requesting him to extend their regards to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. They acknowledged Egypt’s crucial role and ongoing
support in providing political and humanitarian aid to Lebanon during challenging times. Both Lebanese leaders expressed hope that these efforts would lead to enduring security and stability in the region.
