Egyptian-British Consultations Focus on International Security and Multilateral Issues


London: Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and International Security Amr Aljowaily held a series of consultations on multilateral issues and international security with British officials. The discussions were facilitated by the Egyptian Embassy in London and involved directors of UN departments and international organizations with interests in defense, national security, and cyber security at the UK Foreign Ministry.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Aljowaily highlighted the significance of these consultations, which coincide with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations’ establishment. The discussions are timely, as they precede the Berlin meeting focused on developing peace-keeping operations. Aljowaily emphasized Egypt’s leading role in peace-making, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, Aljowaily noted Egypt’s upcoming role as the host for the African Union center for reconstruction and development. The consultations also covered disarmament issues and nuclear wea
pons control, especially in preparation for the third preparatory committee meeting in New York to review the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.
