Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and his Eritrean counterpart Osman Saleh expressed their rejection of any involvement of non-bordering countries in Red Sea security and governance.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting held on Saturday, the top diplomats discussed ways to reinforce bilateral relations and follow up on the results of Abdelatty’s recent visit to Eritrea on February 28. They exchanged views on several regional issues of mutual concern, focusing primarily on the situation in Sudan and recent developments in the Sahel and Red Sea regions.
The two sides stressed the importance of providing support to Sudan’s state institutions to maintain the country’s unity and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, Abdelatty expressed his eagerness to explore new avenues of cooperation at political, economic, and commercial levels. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the trilateral coordination mechanism between Egypt, Eritrea, and Somalia, following the first ministerial meeting held in Cairo in January.
