The Egyptian Ambassador to Denmark, Karim Sherif, met with the Director of the Danish Institute for Human Rights, Ms. Louise Holk, in order to present the national efforts related to the promotion and protection of human rights in Egypt, and to highlight the state of positive movement in Egypt in terms of improving the general climate for rights and freedoms, as well as to discuss regional developments related to the war in Gaza and the situation in Sudan, and to review Egypt’s humanitarian efforts in this regard.
For her part, the Director of the Danish Institute for Human Rights welcomed the meeting and the Egyptian efforts to enhance the human rights situation in Egypt, noting their awareness of the challenges faced by the Egyptian government in light of the changing regional and international conditions, stressing the distinguished relationship between the Institute and the Egyptian Council for Human Rights and looking forward to strengthening it during the coming period within a framework of mutual resp
ect, transfer of expertise and training. She also praised Egypt’s efforts to host more than 9 million foreigners and Denmark’s aspiration to cooperate with Egypt in this regard during the coming period as part of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Egypt and the European Union.
At the end of the meeting, she expressed her aspiration to visit Egypt to get a closer look at the ongoing developments in the field of freedoms and human rights and to learn more about the efforts exerted by the Egyptian government to support the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
