Egypt welcomes the UN resolution on the ICJ Advisory Opinion on the legal consequences arising from Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem
The Arab Republic of Egypt welcomes the approval by the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution on the Advisory Opinion issued by the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences arising from Israel’s policies and practices in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, which demands that Israel brings to an end without delay its unlawful presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and do so within 12 months.
Egypt considers the adoption of the resolution by a majority of 124 nations in favour, to be a reflection of the broad support of the international community to end the Israeli occupation of the occupied Palestinian territories and all its unlawful manifestations, as well as a desire to correct the historical injustice inflicted on the Palestinian people and a recogn
ition of their right to self-determination.
The Arab Republic of Egypt also stresses the necessity of concerted international efforts to strive towards restoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, reviving the two-state solution, and putting an end the unlawful Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, in a manner that ensures the establishment of the independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
