The Egyptian Foreign Ministry welcomed Sunday 6th of October the call of French President Emmanuel Macron to halt arms exports to Israel. This came against the backdrop of grave violations of international law and international humanitarian law committed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, which resulted in tens of thousands of civilian casualties and injuries, most of them women and children, in clear defiance of the international community.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the call made by the French President is fully consistent with respect for the principles and rules of international humanitarian law, and reflects the overwhelming and growing discontent at the international level with the brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, and calls on the international community to implement the call, and reiterates its demand for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in both the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciates France’s position in support of P
alestinian rights and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions
