Egypt upholds life sentence for ex-Muslim Brotherhood leader

Egypt’s highest court upheld a life sentence against a leader from the Muslim Brotherhood group on Wednesday. The Court of Cassation convicted Supreme Guide Mohammed Badie, alongside Mohamed El-Baltagy, another senior Brotherhood leader, and Islamic preacher Safwat Hegazy, who is close to the group. They were accused of “inciting terrorism” in relation to an attack on a police station in Port Said governorate in August 2013, where five people were killed.
