Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received here Thursday resident representative of the United Nations Development Program in Egypt (UNDP) Alessandro Fracacetti at the health ministry’s headquarters to discuss ways of boosting joint cooperation.
The minister asserted the importance of promoting cooperation mechanisms within joint action programs aimed at supporting public health, Health Ministry Spokesman Dr Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
The meeting covered 2021/2025 executive plans and enhancing work mechanisms between the two sides on the national program to combat HIV/AIDS and the national program to combat tuberculosis to achieve their goals through capacity building and providing medicines and vaccines, he said.
The meeting dealt with ways of boosting cooperation to digitize primary care units across the country, as part of the presidential initiative to develop primary health care services to guarantee facilitation of necessary medical services offered to the citizens, he added.
The ministry is highly concerned with holding periodical meetings among specialists from both sides to probe developments and identify needs and priorities in a way that ensures the implementation of joint plans of action with quality and efficiency, he said.
Fracacetti thanked the Minister of Health and Population for his efforts to improve public health, expressing his aspiration to strengthen cooperation with Egypt as one of the leading countries in the region.
