Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine el Kabbag has praised fruitful cooperation between her ministry and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) that started in 2015, noting that the social solidarity ministry is implementing an integrated social protection package starting from the first 1,000 days in a child’s life until reaching the retirement age.
Kabbag made the remarks as she received Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States Khalida Bouzar and her accompanying delegation.
The social solidarity ministry has expanded social protection programs after the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and following the consequences of the Russia-Ukraine crisis; as per relevant instructions from the political leadership, the minister said.
In this regard, she said about 1.5 million families were added to social protection programs, taking the overall number of beneficiary families to 5.1 million in partnership with the National Alliance for Civil Development Work.
Meanwhile, the UN official expressed thanks to the social solidarity minister for the efforts it exerts to implement the National Human Rights Strategy.
Bouzar emphasized the UNDP’s willingness to provide further support to the Ministry of Social Solidarity in the fields of environmental protection, climate change, empowering women and protecting them from violence, institutional development, in addition to providing services to help respond to the social and economic impacts of the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
