The Ministry of Transport signed Saturday 18/03/2023 a number of important cooperation agreements with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group.
Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir and UAE Ambassador in Cairo Maryam al-Kaabi attended the inking ceremony at the ministry’s premises in the New Administrative Capital.
The deals included signing in initials a final contract to the management, operation, maintenance, and re-delivery of the superstructure of the Safaga Seaport Multi-Purpose Terminal (Safaga 2).
They also included the terms and conditions of some contracts to manage and operate platforms and terminals for cruise ships in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada seaports, and operate a cruise line linking all ports along the Red Sea coastline.
They also signed a deal of the terms and conditions of some contracts to build, manage, operate, maintain, and redeliver the superstructure of a cruise ship passenger terminal, a vehicle terminal, and a bulk cargo terminal in Ain Sokhna seaport, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to manage, operate, maintain, and redeliver the superstructure of a multi-purpose terminal in East Port Said port.
Wazir stated that the contract for the management, operation, maintenance, and re-delivery of the superstructure of the Safaga Seaport Multi-Purpose Terminal (Safaga 2) paves the way for the implementation of a grand cooperation agreement between the ministry and Abu Dhabi Ports Groups to pursue a variety of logistics projects.
The two sides have also inked license contracts between the Suez Canal Economic Zone and Transcargo International, the owner and operator of a fleet of advanced stevedoring equipment used for the safe handling, loading, and offloading of cargo, for the establishment of cement silos at Al-Arish and West Port Said ports.
“These contracts and agreements were negotiated in response to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directions to broaden the scope of collaboration with the private sector at the regional and international levels, with the goal of transforming Egypt into a global trade and logistics hub,” Wazir said during the inking ceremony.
