Egypt has topped Arab countries in the number of projects related to production and use of hydrogen, said the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).

The center explained in a paper – which it issued on localizing green hydrogen project – that there are nine hydrogen projects in Egypt; five for green hydrogen production, one for green ammonia, two for blue hydrogen and one for blue ammonia.

This came on the back of a number of significant steps taken by the state to localize hydrogen projects and enhance cooperation with international funding institutions and partners.

The Finance Ministry issued bonds to support investment in renewable energy projects.

Egypt has promising opportunities to compete in the markets of green hydrogen worldwide, the paper added.
