Cairo: Egypt will train the Palestinian Police forces to be deployed in Gaza as part of the reconstruction plan, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty revealed on Saturday 1/3/2025.

According to State Information Service Egypt, FM Abdelatty made these remarks in a joint press conference on Saturday in Cairo with Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Mustafa. He stated that Egypt is finalizing preparations for the emergency Arab summit on Gaza in Cairo on 4 March and that Arab foreign ministers will hold a preparatory meeting ahead of the summit on Monday.

FM Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s alignment with the Palestinian Authority on security and governance arrangements in Gaza. For his part, Palestinian Prime Minister Mustafa confirmed that the Gaza reconstruction plan, to be presented by Egypt at the summit, will include a clear timeline while ensuring that Palestinian residents remain in their homeland.

“We are committed to maintaining security in Gaza, and forces will be trained to enforce the rule of law in the strip,” Mustafa stated. He also hoped the upcoming emergency Arab Summit would take decisive action to support the Palestinian cause.

Earlier Saturday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed the key features of the early recovery and reconstruction plan for Gaza in a meeting with his Palestinian counterpart. Moreover, Mustafa announced during the presser that a Community Support Committee would assist the Palestinian government in Gaza for six months, and he emphasized the need for a stable political environment to end the cycle of wars in Gaza.

The Community Support Committee, agreed upon by Palestinian factions during meetings in Cairo in November 2024, would be technocratic, comprising specialized and independent figures.
