Egypt to Host Total Energies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations


Cairo: Egypt’s Minister of Youths and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, announced on April 6, 2025, that Egypt will host the Total Energies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations. Sobhi emphasized that the decision to host the tournament highlights Egypt’s leadership in organizing major sporting events on the continent.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Sobhi stated that the country is committed to utilizing all available resources to support and ensure the success of the event. This announcement was made during a comprehensive meeting with Engineer Hany Abu Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, and Mohamed Yehia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Sports Company. The meeting focused on the organizational and technical arrangements for the championship, which is scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 18, following C´te d’Ivoire’s withdrawal as host.



Sobhi stressed the importance of collective efforts to ensure the successful organization of the tournament and to enhance the youth national team’s prospects of qualifying for the World Cup. The meeting saw participation from officials of both the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Football Association.
