Egypt, Sudan discuss transport cooperation

Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir and Sudan’s Hisham Abu Zeid met on Tuesday 22/2/2022 to follow up a number of joint cooperation projects.

Wazir hailed as “historical” relations between Egypt and Sudan, a statement by the Transport Ministry said on Tuesday 22/2/2022.

The meeting took up railway linkage between the two sides from Aswan to Wady Halfa, with an exchange station planned to be established in Sudan, the statement added.

The exchange station should help reduce the cost of the railway linkage project and save much of the time needed for implementation, it noted.

The Sudanese minister, meanwhile, said his country is keen on working with Egypt to establish and maintain sea ports, according to the statement.

The two ministers also talked about a deadline of a project to upgrade the Nile Valley Authority for River Navigation for better transport services of passengers and commodities on both sides, read the statement.
