Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ambassador Sherif Essa held political consultations with Senegalese diplomats in Dakar, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Friday.
Senegalese Ambassador Sylvain Sambou, head of the African department at the Senegalese Foreign Ministry took part in the talks, the statement said.
The talks addressed means of fostering bilateral ties in the fields of investment and trade, as well as cooperation in the fight against terrorism, the statement added.
Discussions also took up ways to benefit from Egypt’s successful experience in chairing the African Union in 2019 as Senegal would preside over the African bloc in early 2022, the statement read.
The assistant foreign minister stressed Egypt’s readiness to cooperate with different Senegalese institutions to achieve security and stability in Africa, in a way that ensures the realization of the economic and social aspirations of the African peoples.
On his part, Ambassador Sambou said his country is looking forward to cementing cooperation with Egypt in different political, economic and cultural aspects, as well as qualifying human cadres.
The Senegalese diplomat underlined the importance of keeping close coordination between Dakar and Cairo on bilateral, regional and international issues of common concern.
