Cairo: Egypt welcomed approximately 16 million tourists in 2024, marking a significant achievement for the nation’s tourism sector despite ongoing regional and global geopolitical challenges.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Nasser Turki, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Federation, stated that the tourism industry achieved its best results in years, with over 15.7 million visitors arriving in the country. This remarkable milestone was reached despite obstacles such as the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, which has had an impact on the number of tourists visiting the region.
Turki further noted that the tourism numbers could have been even higher, potentially exceeding 18 million visitors, if not for these geopolitical challenges. The tourism industry’s resilience is seen as a positive indicator for Egypt’s economic recovery and future growth prospects.
