Egypt Secures Spot on UN Tourism Executive Council Until 2029


Doha: Egypt has successfully secured a position on the executive council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) from 2025 to 2029. This announcement was made during a meeting of the UNWTO’s regional committee for the Middle East, which took place in Doha under the auspices of Jordan.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Egyptian Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy and Egypt’s Ambassador to Qatar, Amr el Sherbini, were present at the event. The gathering witnessed the participation of several tourism ministers and delegation heads from various Arab nations, including Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, and Egypt.

Minister Fathy expressed appreciation for the unified Arab support that enabled Egypt to secure the membership position without the need for a vote.
