Sochi: Egypt participated for the first time in the Ninth Forum for Young Scientists, held in Sochi, Russia, from 25 to 29 November this year, under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in collaboration with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Fund for the Care of Innovators and Talents. This forum is part of the activities of the Working Group on Science, Technology, and Innovation for BRICS countries, with the presence of the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia and prominent representatives from member countries.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Ayman Ashour stated that the forum serves as a significant platform for enhancing international cooperation in science and technology, reflecting Egypt’s commitment to supporting its scientists and young innovators. The minister emphasized that this participation marks a milestone as it is the first since Egypt joined the BRICS group. He noted that t
his engagement is a crucial step in Egypt’s efforts to bolster its scientific standing on the global stage and to establish new avenues for collaboration with BRICS countries, underlining the Egyptian leadership’s dedication to supporting youth and fostering the innovation and scientific research ecosystem.
At the conclusion of the forum, Dr. Tamer Hamouda, head of the Egyptian delegation and supervisor of the Innovation and Marketing Development Sector at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, delivered the official speech for the delegation. He underscored the importance of Egypt’s participation as an opportunity to foster cooperation among young scientists from BRICS countries, enhancing the exchange of experiences and knowledge. He expressed Egypt’s enthusiasm for participating in the tenth forum, scheduled to be held in Brazil next year, with a larger contingent of scientists and innovators. Dr. Hamouda extended gratitude to Russia for the excellent organization of the forum and praised BRIC
S countries’ commitment to supporting innovation and empowering scientific youth.
The forum’s activities garnered international acclaim for the Egyptian participation, particularly recognizing engineer Hadi Markus, who received the “Best Innovator” certificate from the Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education for his innovation “Capsule to Reduce Methane Emissions from Animals.” This achievement drew attention to the capability of Egyptian youth to innovate within scientific fields. The Egyptian delegation featured a diverse group of young scientists and innovators, including Dr. Hamdy Mamoun Abdel Ghaffar, Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Dr. Nour El-Din Khalifa, Dr. Roud Aadel El-Mihalmi, engineer Hadi Markus, engineer Khaled Farag, and engineer Mostafa Aliwa.
The participation of the Egyptian delegation received substantial support from the Egyptian Cultural Bureau in Russia, led by cultural advisor Dr. Mohamed El-Sarjani, who facilitated necessary arrangements to enhance the presence of the Egyptian dele
gation.
