Egypt, Saudi Arabia sign protocol on journalism, radio, TV, drama production

Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) Karam Gabr and Saudi Arabia’s Acting Minister of Media Majid Al Qasabi on Tuesday 21/6/2022 signed a protocol for cooperation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in the fields of journalism, radio, television, drama production and digital media.

The protocol was inked during a meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Committee on Tuesday.

The protocol aims to boost media cooperation, through organizing joint training programs and workshops, as well as assigning representatives from the SCMR and the Saudi Media Ministry to enhance the coverage of the most prominent political, economic and sporting events in the two countries.

It is also meant to cement cooperation between both countries in digital media and joint media production, in addition to confronting rumors and misinformation about them.

Under this protocol, the two sides would cooperate in improving online media content and protecting intellectual property rights of media products, besides developing an agenda for promoting Egyptian and Saudi tourist destinations.
