Egypt Renews Its Commitment to Sustainable Development Goals

Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Saeed has renewed the country’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda, and pledged to take the next step forward in promoting the SDGs nationwide.

El Saeed made her remarks during her meeting with Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Amina Mohamed on the sidelines of attending the High-Level Political Forum for sustainable development, held in New York on Saturday 22/07/2023.

During their meeting, the Egyptian official reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to attaining Sustainable Development Goals, noting that the country made tangible progress in this regard.

She also said that Egypt is now concentrating on consolidating Sustainable Development Goals nationwide, adding that 27 reports were launched to strengthen the SDGs in different governorates in partnership with the UN Population Fund to document progress and the status quo in order to fulfill the Goals in each governorate.

“Cooperation was promoted with the UN Development Program to support three Egyptian governorates; Fayyoum, Beheira and Port Said as phase one to achieve the SDGs,” she pointed out.

The minister further highlighted the importance of financing development issue and reforming the world financial system.
