Egypt received an official invitation to chair the first session of the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination (CGHE) which will start its activities on September 20.
This comes in appreciation of Egypt’s efforts to eradicate hepatitis virus C under directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
This came during a meeting on Monday 29/8/2022 between Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and CGHE Director John Ward.
The meeting tackled Egypt’s pivotal role in ditching virus C.
The minister reviewed the success of the presidential initiative for eradicating virus C under which 70 million citizens were examined, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said in a statement on Monday 29/8/2022.
More than 2.2 tested positive for the virus, the minister said.
Abdel Ghaffar said Egypt is ready to offer its experience to help eradicate virus C at global level.
For his part, Ward lauded the efforts exerted by Egypt in eliminating virus C, noting that Egypt’s chairmanship of the alliance’s first session will contribute to attaining the aspired goals.
