Egypt Reaffirms Commitment to Supporting Lebanon Amid Ongoing Challenges


Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized on Thursday that Egypt will continue extending comprehensive support to Lebanon, its government, and its national institutions to fulfill the aspirations of the Lebanese people for a brighter future. In a phone call with his Lebanese counterpart Youssef Rajji, Abdelatty conveyed hope for enhanced cooperation with Lebanon to strengthen bilateral relations across all fields, reiterating Egypt’s willingness to participate in the reconstruction of Lebanon’s infrastructure.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the conversation addressed recent developments in Lebanon, with Abdelatty reaffirming Egypt’s support for Lebanon in facing security challenges. He reiterated Egypt’s opposition to any actions that could destabilize Lebanon’s security and stability. The foreign minister highlighted the significance of adhering to the ceasefire agreement in South Lebanon, ensuring the complete withdrawal of Israeli for
ces, and the implementation of UN Resolution 1701 by all parties involved. This resolution mandates a full cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon.
