WARSAW: Egypt and Poland have revitalized their economic partnership by holding the first Joint Economic Cooperation Committee meeting in three decades. The meeting, which took place in Warsaw, was chaired by Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, and Polish Minister of Economic Development Krzysztof Kwiecinski. It aimed to strengthen trade and investment relations following a 2022 agreement during the Polish President’s visit to Egypt.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the two nations signed a protocol identifying 16 priority sectors for collaboration, including information and communication technology, smart cities, renewable energy, and healthcare. The agreement also focuses on enhancing cooperation in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, agriculture, and tourism. A Polish delegation, comprising investors and business leaders, is scheduled to visit Egypt in 2025 to explore additional opportunities.
Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized Egypt’s role as a gateway for Polish investments into the Middle
East and Africa. She also reaffirmed the country’s commitment to improving its investment climate and supporting the private sector, highlighting green energy and hydrogen production as key areas for future cooperation.
Minister Kwiecinski expressed Poland’s readiness to expand trade and investment, underscoring Egypt’s strategic importance as an EU partner, especially as Poland prepares to assume the EU Presidency in 2025. The meeting also highlighted joint initiatives like the Egyptian-Italian “Ro-Ro” shipping line, which aims to enhance European market access for Egyptian agricultural exports.
The event was attended by several prominent officials, including Egypt’s Ambassador to Poland and the Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Walid Gamal El-Din.
