ABU DHABI: Dr. Neveen Youssef Mohamed Al Kilany, Egyptian Minister of Culture, affirmed that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair represents one of the important book fairs not only in the Arab world but also on a global level, emphasising that Egypt’s presence in this current edition as Guest of Honour is a tribute to Egyptian culture and its role on both the Arab and global stages.
Al Kilany said in statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the Egyptian pavilion includes various activities and seminars alongside screenings of documentaries, an exhibition of prominent visual artists, and a display of important ancient manuscripts from the Egyptian National Library, in addition to a large collection of Egyptian pottery works from the Cultural Development Fund and the Nile Folk Instruments Ensemble, which performs throughout the fair.
She emphasised the depth of cultural relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt, pointing to cultural cooperation between the two countr
ies in various fields of literature and arts, culminating in Egypt being chosen as the “Guest of Honour” for the 33rd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, expressing her pleasure that novelist Naguib Mahfouz is the personality of this year’s book fair.
The Egyptian Minister of Culture stated that the relations between the two countries are deep-rooted, characterised by love, brotherhood, and fruitful cooperation, highlighting the joint cooperation between the Emirati and Egyptian Ministries of Culture.
