Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad underlined on Sunday the importance of maintaining coordination between the Egyptian presidency of UN Climate Change Conference COP 27 and the British presidency of Glasgow conference to build on what has been achieved and come up with fruitful results.
During her participation in a conference organized by the Future Investment Initiative Institute in London, she said Egypt seeks during its presidency of Cop 27 climate change conference to present an applicable model of ways to fight global warming by converting Sharm el Sheikh city, the host city of the conference, to a green city either by turning to electric transportation or helping hotels get green star or installing solar panels with the help of the private sector.
The COP 27 conference will focus on phrasing pledges made by advanced states during the Glasgow conference and shedding light on profits of engaging the private sector in climate change projects.
She referred to Egypt’s launching of the 2050 national strategy for climate change which is considered a comprehensive framework that covers adaptation measures, infrastructure of climate financing systems, climate governance and the role of science and technology in achieving development.
