Communications and IT Minister Amr Talaat discussed with Lithuania’s Ambassador to Egypt Arturas Gailiunas ways of boosting cooperation in several areas of communications and IT, topped by the digital transformation, financial technology and cyber security.
During the meeting, the two sides also shed light on the prospects of cooperation between Egypt and Lithuania, especially that the latter scores high in terms of cybersecurity, high-speed internet, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and capacity building.
The Communications and IT Ministry implements several initiatives as part of “Digital Egypt” strategy, which focuses on digital transformation, capacity building, technology innovation, and entrepreneurship, said Talaat during the meeting.
Talaat also stressed the importance of exchanging expertise between the two countries in the communications and IT fields.
Talaat also invited Lithuanian private sector companies to pay a visit to Egypt through the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) to get acquainted with the investment opportunities in the communications and IT sector.
The ambassador, for his part, voiced keenness on promoting cooperation between Egypt and Lithuania in the communications and IT sectors.
At the end of the meeting, the ambassador handed over an invitation from the Lithuania’s minister of economy of innovation to Talaat to visit Lithuania to get acquainted with the technological development in the country and hold talks on ways of boosting cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
