Egypt launches Global South Youth Bureau


The Global South Youth Bureau was officially launched at the Cairo Civil Education Centre, marking Egypt’s commitment to youth diplomacy and international cooperation.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, coincided with the International Day for South-South Cooperation and was attended by high-ranking officials, including Ambassador Amr Aljowaily, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and International Security, and Major General Ismail Al-Far, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports for Governmental Relations.

Major General Ismail Al-Far emphasized the ministry’s dedication to empowering youth at national and global levels. He highlighted the bureau’s role as a central platform for youth diplomacy, enabling collaboration and idea-sharing among young leaders in the Global South.

“The Global South Youth Bureau embodies our vision of youth leadership in driving sustainable development and building a stronger, interconnected society,” he stated.

ly commended the initiative, reaffirming Egypt’s leadership in the Global South and underscoring the vital role played by youth in shaping the future of multilateral relations.

He emphasized the significance of Egypt’s involvement in the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77 and the bureau’s role in continuing this legacy.

Hassan Ghazaly, Director of the Global South Youth Bureau, presented the bureau’s strategic objectives, which include creating communication bridges between Egyptian youth and their peers across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

He also outlined the successes of key initiatives such as the Gamal Abdel-Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership and the Nasser Youth Movement, which have forged strong international partnerships over the years.

A panel discussion, led by Ambassador Aljowaily, explored Global South’s call for justice, equality, and active participation in the international system.

Attendees, including young leaders and graduates of the bureau’s programs
, raised key questions about expanding youth initiatives to regions like Upper Egypt and enhancing training programs for individuals with disabilities.

They also praised the bureau for fostering a deeper understanding of international cooperation and helping shape their professional journeys.

The event concluded with Major General Ismail Al-Far honouring Ambassador Amr Aljowaily for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ continued support of youth diplomacy, recognizing the vital role it has played in the success of these initiatives.

The launch of the Global South Youth Bureau reinforces Egypt’s ongoing efforts to empower its youth and strengthen ties with countries across the Global South.
