Egypt, Jordan, Palestine tackle Palestinian cause

The foreign ministers and heads of the general intelligence services of Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine together with the Palestinian civil affairs minister, convened on Monday in Cairo to coordinate visions and stances about following up on the implementation of the outcomes of a Cairo-hosted tripartite summit on September 2 and discuss developments of the Palestinian issue.

The meeting reflects keenness to strengthen the strategic ties binding Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine and the sincere desire to intensify the level of trilateral coordination regarding the Palestinian cause.

According to an outcome statement, the meeting tackled ways of boosting ties, developments of the Peace Process, efforts to unify the Palestinian factions, an assessment of the situation on the ground in Palestine in light of Israel’s continued illegitimate measures that undermine chances of realizing a fair and overall peace settlement, as well as moves for consolidating the truce and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The officials studied a number of suggestions aiming to break the deadlock of the Peace Process. They also discussed the three countries’ contacts at the regional and international levels.
