Egypt is free from monkeypox, the Health Ministry said Sunday.
The bodies concerned closely follow up the global epidemiological situation of monkeypox virus and other epidemic diseases, it added in a statement.
So far, no monkeypox cases have been detected in Egypt, the ministry said.
The virus does not spread through long-range airborne transmission. It is transmitted by contact with infected cases for a long period, it added.
