Cairo: Egypt’s Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny engaged in talks with Sue Barrett, head of Infrastructure for Europe and MENA at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), to explore potential collaborations on infrastructure and utilities projects.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister El-Sherbiny emphasized the ministry’s commitment to fostering partnerships that contribute to sustainable development, particularly in the realms of water and sanitation services. The discussions underscored EBRD-supported initiatives, including the wastewater project in villages near Qarun Lake in Fayoum and the sanitation programme in Kafr El-Sheikh. The focus was on extending cooperation to additional projects.
Barrett acknowledged the productive collaboration and conveyed EBRD’s willingness to support Egypt’s infrastructure advancements, noting the economic benefits these projects can bring.
The meeting also delved into other potential areas of cooperation, such as improvements in sustainable utilities and housing projects, with particular attention to Egypt’s Hayah Karima (Decent Life) Initiative, which aims to enhance rural communities.
