Egypt concluded its one- year long chairmanship of the 15th session of United Nations Peacebuilding Committee (UNPBC).
The Foreign Ministry said on its Facebook account on Wednesday that the official session of the committee was chaired by Ambassador Osama Abdel Khaleq, Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
The session approved the annual report of the committee activities under the chairmanship of Egypt where Bangladesh was elected as the new chair while Egypt and Dominican were elected as vice presidents.
The Foreign Ministry asserted the member states hailed Egypt’s success during the previous session and its keenness on extending bridges of consensus, a matter that led to the issuance of 66 resolutions in 2021.
The UNPBC is an intergovernmental advisory body that supports peace efforts in conflict-affected countries and is a key addition to the capacity of the International.
Community in the broad peace agenda. The PBC is composed of 31 Member States, elected from the General Assembly, the Security Council, and the Economic and Social Council. The top financial contributing countries and the top troop-contributing countries to the United Nations system are also members.
