Egypt, Canada discuss development cooperation

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry hailed the remarkable trajectory of Egyptian-Canadian relations over the past few years, which has been demonstrated in a mutual willingness to consult over many international and regional issues of mutual concern.

During a meeting with Canadian Minister of International Development Harjit S. Sajjan here on Sunday, Shoukry discussed ways to push forward bilateral in various areas of development, especially in healthcare and rural development projects.

They also probed cooperation for women empowerment and capacity-building to serve the goals of sustainable development, according to a statement by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez.

Shoukry said he is looking forward to promoting mutual cooperation by increasing Canadian investments in Egypt.

Briefing the Canadian official on the preparations under way for hosting the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UNFCCC in Sharm El-Sheikh in November, Shoukry also voiced Egypt’s willingness to promote energy and environmental cooperation with the North American country.
