Acting Minister of Health and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar called for adopting an Arab and national strategy to support scientific research in various health fields in a way that helps build a strong health infrastructure and systems capable of addressing any future epidemiological challenges.
The president of the executive bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers for Health was speaking on Thursday during the 56th session of the council that kicked off today at the headquarters of the Arab League (AL) General Secretariat.
Abdel Ghaffar asserted the importance of sharing Arab capacities to achieve self-sufficiency in the fields of vaccine production, drugs and medical supplies.
This requires sharing financing to help push forward the research fields, he said, suggesting the establishment of a joint Arab research fund.
The council’s executive council, during its yesterday’s meeting, called for activating several key recommendations and resolutions including boosting joint Arab efforts to adopt an Arab strategy to standardize procedures for registration and approval of vaccinations and their use in the Arab countries, he said.
He highlighted Egypt’s distinguished experiment led by VACSERA Co. via its cooperation with China, as a result of which Egypt is boosting the local manufacturing technology of Sinovac vaccines.
Egypt seeks to become a hub for vaccine production and manufacturing to provide them to the Arab and African countries, he said.
